Book Review: Follow My Lead (The Blue Raven #3) by Kate Noble

Author: Kate Noble
Series: The Blue Raven #3
Release Date: May 3rd, 2011
Publisher: Berkley
From the national bestselling author: a romantic adventure across Europe starring a marriage minded Duke and an independent beauty...
Jason Cummings, Duke of Rayne is feeling the weight of his responsibilities - one of which is to get married. Being the most sought after bachelor in London can be trying, so who can blame him if he seeks refuge from the voracious hordes of young debutantes at the decidedly female-free Historical Society? Female-free, that is, until Winnifred Crane marches up to the door, demanding entrance.
Despite her prowess as a historian, Winn is denied membership the Society. So she daringly offers an unusual bargain: if she can prove the authenticity of a certain painting, she'll be granted recognition, fame, and respect. But to do that, she must go abroad. And to go abroad, she must have an escort, even a stubbornly unwilling one...
Jason has no desire to accompany Winn on her adventure across Europe, but even he is not immune to Winn's passion for her profession. As the journey proves more difficult than planned, they must work together to stay one step ahead of their rivals.... and the closer they get to the proof Winn seeks, the closer she and Jason become. But as their adventure turns dangerous, can Jason keep this headstrong bluestocking safe? And what will become of their growing bond when the adventure ends?
When I discovered this book, I loved the summary. The cover did help me to get more interested and I was sold when I watched the book trailer. It sounded so different from other romance novels that I have to read it.

I wasn't disappointed. The characters were amazing. Winn, the protagonist, is 30 years old. She has spent all her life at Oxford, with her father. Now, her father is dead and she has practically nothing. But, she wrote some papers with the name C.W. Marks, and she's determined to be recognized as the author of them.

To be recognized, Winn has to travel to find some letters, with little money and preferable alone. But Jason discovered her, and is obligated to accompany on her journey.

Personally, I loved Winn. She's so intelligent and brave! In this time it wasn't easy for a woman to be recognized as an intelligent human being, but she was decided to do it.

Jason is an awesome character too. He's looking for a wife and ask his sister to help him. Of course, he wasn't expecting to met Winn, or to accompany her at her journey. He wasn't the typical perfect hero, and I loved that. He has many faults, as being very stubborn and apparently always running away from responsibilities, but he has a good heart and actually transformed himself while traveling with Winn. Besides, he's very sweet and protective, and at the same time cute and funny.

I loved the romance in this book. It was very realistic, their attractions wasn't instantly. If you read romance you know this isn't common, but I liked it. It was refreshing. Of course there are a few details I didn't like, as Jason's interest in Miss Forrester, which he met before Winn. Or Winn's attitude with Jason, even after it's obvious he loves her.

Personally, I fell in love with Jason. How can I not love him when he decided to open his heart and run after Winn?. It was such a brave choice, and at this moment it's obvious he wasn't the same Jason from the beginning.

Also, it's obvious the author did a lot of historical research for this book, and actually manages to combined it with the plot without making it boring.

I only wished the ending wouldn't have been so abrupt. Really, I couldn't believe the author decided to end it without another chapter. Don't get me wrong, it was a HEA ending, but I wanted to know more! And I couldn't believe Winn would have been so...cold. I would have been running to Jason's arms after such a romantic declaration of love.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. I didn't know it was a series, but I really want to read the previous books. Kate Noble did an amazing job with Follow My Lead, and I'll definitely be looking for more of her books.
