After her father loses the family fortune in an insider-trading scheme, single mom Parker Welles is faced with some hard decisions. First order of business: go to Gideon’s Cove, Maine, to sell the only thing she now owns—a decrepit house in need of some serious flipping. When her father’s wingman, James Cahill, asks to go with her, she’s not thrilled…even if he is fairly gorgeous and knows his way around a toolbox.

Having to fend for herself financially for the first time in her life, Parker signs on as a florist’s assistant and starts to find out who she really is. Maybe James isn’t the glib lawyer she always thought he was. And maybe the house isn’t the only thing that needs a little TLC…
Somebody To Love is my second book read from Kristan Higgins. The first was Until There Was You, which I loved it. So when this one was on NetGalley, I couldn't wait to read it.

Parker Welles is a single mom, who lives in a mansion and is doing great by her own. Except when her father loses the family fortune, she's practically left with nothing. The only thing left for her is an old house at Maine, which she's going to fix and sell to be close to her son's father.

I liked Parker, but I didn't give 5 stars to be book because of her. She was good, sweet, and wasn't afraid to work, but I couldn't stand the way she talked about Ethan, her son's father. Apparently they were friends, had one night, and she got pregnant. They weren't in love, and then he fell in love with another woman. They are all cool and share their son, but Ethan was treated like an angel. He's a good person, but I hate when people doesn't move on...

James Cahill was her father's lawyer, and he has always been there. Parker hates him, and calls him "Thing One". She hates him because he's her father's right hand, and she thinks he's fake. Turns out James isn't, he's sweet, caring and actually likes Parker (I don't know why, since she treated him bad).  He's also hot, which is a plus, and decides to help Parker to fix her new house.

I don't know how James could stand Parker when she talked about Ethan. But he did. Also, I don't know how he was so patient with her son, who didn't like him...But I really liked James, he was a good protagonist and for a while I just wanted him to be happy, even if that meant Parker wasn't in his life.

Overall, I like Kristan Higgins writing, not only because her romances are sweet with happy endings., but because they are easy to enjoy, and realistic. Somebody to Love fulfilled my expectations, Parker and James needed time to heal and be brave enough to start a new life together.
