Waiting on Wednesday # 32 - The Running Dream

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted at Breaking The Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

My pick:

Summary from Goodreads
Jessica thinks her life is over when she loses a leg in a car accident. She's not comforted by the news that she'll be able to walk with the help of a prosthetic leg. Who cares about walking when you live to run?As she struggles to cope with crutches and a first cyborg-like prosthetic, Jessica feels oddly both in the spotlight and invisible. People who don't know what to say, act like she's not there. Which she could handle better if she weren't now keenly aware that she'd done the same thing herself to a girl with CP named Rosa. A girl who is going to tutor her through all the math she's missed. A girl who sees right into the heart of her. With the support of family, friends, a coach, and her track teammates, Jessica may actually be able to run again. But that's not enough for her now. She doesn't just want to cross finish lines herself—she wants to take Rosa with her.

  1. I am intrigued with this novel also. I think it will be an excellent read with amazing characters and I love Van Draanen's writing. Great pick!

  2. Hadn't heard of this one before but it sounds really good and I like the cover being kind of plain with just the running shoes hanging off the title. Will be adding it to my list. =)

  3. This is new to me as well. I have to say it sounds wonderful. Hope you enjoy it when it comes out :)

  4. I am running a book tour of this right now if you want to join...come on by!

    I Read Banned Books

  5. Sounds like a really interesting read. Haven't read much books about disabled persons. I like the cover.

  6. here's mine

  7. Having had a limb threatening injury myself I couldn't stand to read this. On the other hand though, I think it is good to get some of the issues involved out there even if it is in novel form.

My best wishes for 2011 to you and yours Gaby.

  8. I love this author so I am intrigued by this one.
