Book Review: How to Abduct a Highland Lord by Karen Hawkins

How to Abduct a Highland Lord by Karen Hawkins
Author: Karen Hawkins
Series: MacLean Curse #1
Release Date: January 30th, 2007
Publisher: Pocket
Age: Adult
It's hardly the type of wedding Fiona MacLean dreamed of. No family, no guests, just a groom who's been dragged -- literally -- to the altar. But if marriage to Black Jack Kincaid, the handsome wastrel she'd sworn never to see again, will avert a bloody war between their clans, so be it. Surely she can share his bed without losing her heart.... Known throughout Scotland and London as a wild rogue, Jack is accustomed to waking in dire situations, but...married? Long ago, he and Fiona reveled in a youthful passion. Now, the fiery, sensual lass is his once more. And though their marriage is in name only, Jack is determined to win her forever -- body and soul....
The MacLeans and the Kincaids are always fighting, and when one of the Maclean sons is killed, Fiona MacLean, the only woman, decides to step in and do something to stop a war.

Her plan is to marry Black Jack Kincaid, heir of the Kincaid clan. They were lovers in the past, so it's not so difficult to convince everyone they are together again and she's pregnant.

How to Abduct a Highland Lord was a fun book. Fiona is strong and determinate, and always sure of her feelings for Jack. But I thought she was kind of crazy for dragging Jack to the altar while being unconscious, and then later expecting Jack change his ways and love her.

Jack is probably the worst scoundrel I have ever read. I wasn't really sure he was going to change, even when it was obvious he still had feelings for Fiona. But eventually he realized he is acting as an idiot, who don't even know the people who worked for him and who is probably going to loose Fiona.

Fiona's brothers were the perfect addition for this book. I can't wait to read their stories, specially when they are the ones who can control their feelings / powers.

Overall, it's a fun and quick reading. I like it and I'll probably keep reading this series, although I thought the paranormal aspects weren't really necessary.
