Bold, brazen, and beautiful, the Reckless Brides refuse to play by society’s rules of courtship. But—come hell or high water—they always get their man…For generations, the Kents have served proudly with the British Royal Navy. So when her younger brother refuses to report for duty, Sally Kent slips into a uniform and takes his place—at least until he comes to his senses. Boldly climbing aboard the Audacious, Sally is as able-bodied as any sailor there. But one man is making her feel tantalizingly aware of the full-bodied woman beneath her navy blues…Dedicated to his ship, sworn to his duty—and distractingly gorgeous—Lieutenant David Colyear sees through Sally’s charade, and he’s furious. But he must admit she’s the best midshipman on board—and a woman who tempts him like no other. With his own secrets to hide and his career at stake, Col agrees to keep her on. But can the passion they hide survive the perils of a battle at sea? Soon, their love and devotion will be put to the test…
Sally Kent loves the sea, so when her younger brother refuses to report for duty, she takes the chance to wear a uniform. The problem is, how to hide her woman curves, specially from Lieutenant David Colyear.
I really liked Sally, she was strong, decided and never accepted 'no' for an answer. It was a little bit unbelievable how she could hide herself from everyone, but I enjoyed her relationship with Col. They were hot and passionate, and even when Col took a difficult decision to allow her on the ship, he was still protective but not exasperating.
But I didn't enjoy much the explanations and descriptions of the life on the ship, it was too tedious for me and it made me want to leave the book many times. That's the main reason why I didn't love it.
Overall, I liked Elizabeth Essex's writing and enjoyed Sally's and Col's relationship, so the Reckless Brides series is definitely recommended if you want to read an historical romance series.

Sorry you didn't loved the book, but liking it is also very good! :) I'm not a huge fan of historical romances, seriously I have only read one or two, but this one sounds nice. :) Great review.
ReplyDeleteSorry that the details were too much for you, but I do appreciate the premise of taking her bother's place. Thanks for review,
