A heartwarming, page-turning adventure about one child's love for his most treasured thing, and how far he will go to find it. A tale for the whole family to fall in love with, from one of the world’s greatest storytellers.

One boy and his toy are about to change everything...

Jack loves his childhood toy, Dur Pig. DP has always been there for him, through good and bad. Until one Christmas Eve something terrible happens — DP is lost. But Christmas Eve is a night for miracles and lost causes, a night when all things can come to life... even toys. And Jack’s newest toy — the Christmas Pig (DP’s replacement) — has a daring plan: Together they’ll embark on a magical journey to seek something lost, and to save the best friend Jack has ever known...

My review:

The Christmas Pig is a heartwarming and enchanting holiday tale that follows Jack, a young boy who experiences the deep loss of his beloved stuffed toy, DP. DP is Jack's closest companion, and when he goes missing, Jack is devastated. But then, on Christmas Eve, a magical replacement appears – the Christmas Pig. Together, Jack and the Christmas Pig embark on a thrilling adventure in the Land of the Lost, a world where lost things go, in hopes of finding DP.

The book weaves a story that is both imaginative and tender, combining adventure with life lessons on love, loss, and the resilience of the human (and toy!) spirit. I loved the overall message, even though some things may be lost, the memories and love we associate with them remain. It also explores themes of hope and bravery. Jack’s journey, despite the odds, underscores the idea that love and courage can drive us to overcome challenges, even in the most unfamiliar of worlds.

The Land of the Lost is a fascinating world where toys, trinkets, and even feelings that people have misplaced live in a society governed by their own rules, hierarchy, and dangers. I found it very interesting and original idea.

The language in The Christmas Pig is simple and straightforward, suitable for a middle-grade audience. I thought sometimes it was a little bit longer than necessary, specially because it has many descriptions, but overall it was a very emotional tale that combines holiday spirit with universal messages of love and perseverance. I really really loved the ending, I wasn't expecting it but it turned out better than I imagined.

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4/5)
