Image
Halloween is just around the corner! It's the perfect time to enjoy family movies that offer a bit of magic, mystery, and above all, fun. Here's a list of 20 children's movies ideal for enjoying during this spooky season.

Movie Review: Black Panther

Image
I loved Black Panther! It wasn't my favorite Marvel's superheroes movie, but it was different and exciting. T'Challa is a great leader and I can see him as a great avenger. He cares for his nation, his people, but is intelligent and calm. You won't see him fighting without a cause or if it isn't really necessary. He is the perfect person to carry the honor to be the Black Panther. He's the king and heir of Wakanda, a rich nation but hidden from the world, and it comes the time when their secrets are going to be revealed, by force or by decision. I loved how he was surrounded by amazing women who helped him during his quest. His sister and his guard were incredible, and interesting characters to look up. Obviously this movie showed Hollywood that other types of heroes can also be a success and even wanted. I'm tired to see the same type of heroes, I wanted something different and Black Panther gave me that. Another country, another culture, a...

Movie Review: Paddington 2

Image
I loved the first Paddington movie , but I wasn't sure if Paddington 2 was going to be good. Thankfully, it was great and I loved it even more! This time, Paddington is looking for a job to earn money and buy his aunt a beautiful London book. It's not as easy as it seems, and when someone steals the book, the police think it was Paddington. Paddington being as charming as always seems to find a way to make everything ok again, making new interesting friends again and people realizing how amazing he is. I loved to see the old characters and the new ones (Hugh Grant), eccentric but funny. Overall, you know I love everything Paddington but I'm glad this second movie was as great as the first, maintaining the true essence of this heartwarming bear.

Movie Review: The Healer

Image
Alec's life is a mess, so when an uncle shows up accepting to pay all his debts with the condition that he goes to live in a little town Canada for a year, it doesn't sound too bad. But in that little town he will discover he has the gift to heal people, although he isn't ready to have that responsibility. Alec was stubborn but had his (very sad) reasons, and I really liked Cecilia's characters, because she's a vet and lives in my dream house!! I liked how Alec changed, finally opened his heart to try to help a teenager with cancer. It was heart warming, it makes you remember that even if you feel like your life is shit, you can do better and even help other people. It left me feeling positive about life. The Healer  is a very sweet movie, perfect for those moments when you want to watch something light and with a happy ending. All profits for this film go to charity for children's cancer care, so what are you waiting for?

Movie Review: Thor Ragnarok

Image
You know I love superheroes, and Thor is definitely one of my favorites. I always thought his story was interesting and it had more potential than what we saw on the previous films. I did like the previous two films of Thor, but Thor Ragnarok is my favorite. It has a different rhythm than the other movies, it was funnier, the soundtrack was amazing, but also we had more opportunities to get to know the real Thor. I liked his personality, it was the first time he talked so much and it gave us the possibility to also know more about this brother Loki and their complicated relationship, Hulk, and the new kick ass character, Valkyrie. Also, the new villain is Hela, a super powerful woman who really makes it more interesting and difficult for this new team to try to save Asgard. The film had a few surprises for the marvel superheroes fans and the ending, as always, left us impatiently waiting for the next Marvel movie.

Movie Review: Wonder Woman

Image
Wonder Woman was amazing!!!! I was hoping to find a good heroine but wow! DC finally made a great movie, and with the best character. I didn't know much about Wonder Woman's history. I remember her suit and her invisible plane. But in this movie they let you know everything since the start. The Amazons are women warriors, the bests, and Diana is their princess. I loved the fight scenes. Diana is super strong and the best warrior. Nobody can win her. Forget Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman is the best! She was very decisive and didn't let anyone change her objetives, even when she had Steve Trevor at her sight giving her the looks. But I could relate to her when she just couldn't ignore the people suffering for a war they didn't want. Overall, I just loved Wonder Woman. Gal Gadot was a great choice to play this amazing character and I want more! Finally they made a movie about a heroine, and it ended being my favorite!

Movie Review: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Image
What a fun movie! I loved the first one, so I was expecting Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to be an movie and it was. Baby Groot was super super cute, and it was full of action, jokes and great characters saving the galaxy again. As the first movie, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 isn't really a family movie, it's intended to be a 'super' heroes movie for adults. Not only because of the jokes and anti heroes, but because each character is very deep and have issues trying to solve that most kids wouldn't understand. I think it was almost perfect. It has a good pace, each character have the right time at the screen and the soundtrack, that's very important for the story, is even better that the first one. The special effects are great too, I watched it on 3D and was a great experience. The only thing that I thought it could have been better was the villain. It was good, but kind of obvious since the start that he was a bad guy....after all, the name said it a...

Yesterday was the release of the first trailer of  Star Wars: The Last Jedi . Are you excited for this movie? I am!

Movie Review: Beauty and the Beast

Image
I loved the new Disney version of the Beauty and the Beast . When I was a girl, I was never a big fan of princesses. But this new version seemed beautiful and interesting with Emma Watson. And it was so beautiful and magical. The special effects, the details, the dress! Emma Watson played the perfect Belle. Who wouldn't want to be an intelligent and beautiful princess like her? I liked that the movie was very much like the original animated Disney's film, but also it had some changes to make it more modern. There was more information about Belle and Beast's pasts, and Belle was not only a reader, but also an inventor. It does maintains the sweet romance and the magic around the castle. And the songs! I remember the songs were beautiful, and this time even more. But not only that, I think the amazing cast made this movie the perfect remake. Dan Stevens, Ewan McGregor, Ian McKellen, Josh Gad, Emma Thompson, Stanley Tucci, Kevin Kline....I specially liked Josh Gag...

Movie Review: The Peanuts Movie

Image
I loved The Peanuts Movie ! It was cute and funny, just as I was expecting. I like the comics and I remember when I was a kid I had a VHS of another one of their movies, I think it was Snoopy, Come  Home!. I used to watch it over and over again, maybe that's why I liked this new movie. It has the same essence, but the animation is modern and the pace of the story a little bit faster. My boyfriend and I watched it this Christmas and he loved it too. It was the perfect plan for that day, watching Charlie Brown and his friend. Totally recommended!

My favorite Christmas Movies

Image
I love Christmas! This year I've been working a lot so I haven't had time to read the holidays romances I like so much, but at least I've been able to repeat my favorite movies :) Arthur Christmas : If you are looking for a fun and heart warming story, this is it! Arthur is Santa's second son and he loves Christmas. But apparently his family doesn't remember what Christmas is really about...not only gifts. Love Actually : It just has the perfect amount of romance, comedy, reality and a little bit of that magic we all want in our life. Frozen : Let it go! Let it go! We don't have snow over here, so it's fun to watch all that snow but also it is a modern fairy tale, and I love those. It's not exactly about Christmas, but it's about family, and after all, Christmas is about family. There are so many other Christmas movies I like, but those are my favorites and the ones I have to watch this season. Do you have a favorite mov...

Movie Review: Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Image
I know many of you are excited for this movie. Honestly, who wouldn't? I can't say I am a fan but my fiance and his father are, and they were extremely excited to see this new episode. Star Wars: The Force Awakens is the perfect movie for fans and non fans. It was full of action and it keeps you entertained. For the fans, it's the perfect way to remember the old characters but at the same time be curious about Rey, Finn and BB8. There is still a lot of mystery around these characters so don't expect to discover too much about them. But I'm in love with BB8 hehe. I like when female characters are more than just beauties, so that's why I enjoyed seeing Rey and Leia in important roles and physically and psychological strong. I don't want to give spoilers, so go and enjoy your movie. But be prepared for surprises, I'm still at shock with a certain thing that happened, I didn't expect it, at least not so soon....  Of course...

Movie Trailer: Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

Image
I'm just too excited about this movie! Are you a fan of the Harry Potter universe? I can't believe how my favorite books are now so much more than just books and it's amazing that somehow the excitement is still the same as when I was a little girl waiting for the books to be were released :) Anyway, here is the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them first teaser trailer. Enjoy!

Movie Review: Hotel Transylvania 2

Image
Halloween is coming and I'm sure some of you will like to enjoy this cute and fun movie! I remember watching the first Hotel Transylvania at tv and really enjoyed it, so when I heard there was a second movie I got really excited. It didn't disappoint me! This time Mavis and  Jonathan   get married and have the cutest son Dennys. Dennys is perfect but he seems to be human, not a vampire, and being a little human living in a hotel full of monsters can be very dangerous. So his parents plan to move to California for him to have a normal human childhood but his grandfather Dracula can't accept they move away and is going to do everything for his grandson to release the vampire that must be inside him. Hotel Transylvania 2  was fun and sweet, everybody was laughing and overall we had a great time. Totally recommended for a not-so-scary Halloween.

Movie Review: Inside Out

Image
I really loved the new Disney-Pixar movie, Inside Out . Besides the fun and great animation, it has a deep message about emotions, specially the negative ones. The story is about Riley, a 12 years old girl that has a pretty happy life until her family moves to San Francisco. Everything there is new and scary, and she starts feeling sad most of the time. At the same time the story follows Joy, Sadness, Disgust, Anger and Fear, Riley's emotions. They make sure Riley stays mostly happy, but by mistake Joy and Sadness loose the most important memories in Riley's life and have to work together to get it back. In that journey, Fear, Disgust and Anger take control of Riley while Joy and Sadness travel around Riley's mind, but in the meantime Riley can't feel those emotions and it turns into a disaster. I love like most of Disney and Pixar's movies, but I really liked Inside Out because it's deeper. I don't think I've ever seen a children's mo...

Movie Review: The Avengers: Age of Ultron

Image
I'm a fan of all of the avengers, specially Thor. Who doesn't like Thor? Hehe. Anyway, I've watched every movie, mostly because my boyfriend is a big fan of the comics and he always invited me to the movies and tried to spoil me every time.... So, we went to watch The Avengers: Age of Ultron in 3D, two times actually, because the first time we had an issue with the language (I hate seeing these kind of movies in another language than the original) and the screen and we felt like we didn't enjoyed it. I really liked  The Avengers: Age of Ultron . I think it has what every super heroes movies needs: lots of action, a little bit of romance and a picture of the heroes real life, to make them more realistic. I really enjoyed the story and the new characters, and seeing again the old characters and some from other movies. There were a few things I didn't get the first time I saw the movie, but the second time I could see all those details. My favorite is still Th...

Movie Trailer: The Little Prince

Image
I love The Little Prince . It's one of those books that I read and re-read and always find a new meaning to the story. Maybe it's because when I first read it, I was a little girl. Anyway, there is a new animated movie coming up this year, the release date change between countries, but I really want to watch it! Here is the trailer: What do you guys think? Would you watch it? Have you read the book?

Movie Review: McFarland USA

Image
I wanted to see this movie because first, I'm a fan of Juanes, a Colombian singer who sings the song 'Juntos' (Together) for this movie, but also because it's based on the real history of a group of young men, sons of immigrants (mostly Mexicans), living in a small and poor town called McFarland, and I wanted to see how Disney showed their lives. The story begins with coach White, who only could find a job at this poor town very different from what he and his family wants. But instead they found a community that even with their cultural differences, welcome and befriends them. I liked that even when it was a Disney movie, it shows without being excessively dramatic, the real life of these kids trying to participate in a community where basically they didn't have chances to progress. It's based on a real story, which always makes it more interesting to me. The movie has some changes. but it doesn't change the ending and it makes you think: Would...

Movie Review: The Maze Runner

Image
The Maze Runner  is based on the books written by James Dashner. I haven't read any of the books, I know they were really popular, but I wasn't interested. I wasn't sure about the movie either, but I really liked it! I watched it at home and usually at home I get distracted, but not with this movie. The story was mostly new to me, I knew a group of boys were trapped inside a maze, but that was it. So I really enjoyed the development of the movie. Why are they there? Who put them there? It kind of reminded me to another movie, Cube, which scared me a lot, and also to Lords of the flies. It's a movie full of action, everything happens fasts. The maze is dangerous, but I think more dangerous was having all of those boys trapped inside and fighting for dominance. Personally, I'd have been one of the people that wanted to find an exit, even if that meant getting lost at the maze. I think what I liked more were the surprises, eventually finding out why wer...
